Stainless-Steel Curved Angle Gauge Plate for Vintage Delta 14″ Bandsaws
This newly manufactured curved angle gauge plate replaces the original table-tilt indicator used on vintage Delta 14″ bandsaws.
Original plates were made from thin aluminum and were easily dented, scratched, painted over, damaged during removal, or lost entirely. Our reproduction is stronger and more durable while faithfully preserving the dimensions and appearance of the original Delta plate.
Construction
- Approximately 5/8″ × 4″
- Laser-cut from 0.030-thick 304 stainless steel
- Carefully deburred and brush-finished
- Bright-red, high-quality vinyl gauge artwork
- Recreated using original plate dimensions and artwork
- Mounting holes match the original plate and existing machine holes
Each plate is individually bagged and shipped in a protective envelope. Additional plates purchased in the same order ship at no additional charge.
Removing the Original Plate
Delta installed the original plates with drive rivets, which can be difficult to remove without damaging the thin aluminum plate.
We use a small chisel to loosen each rivet by gently tapping around its base from all four sides. Once loosened, the rivets can be carefully removed.
Installing the New Plate
The replacement plate may be installed using OEM-style drive rivets or small screws.
For our restoration work, we prefer stainless-steel screws because they allow the plate to be removed later without damage. The original rivet holes can be drilled with a No. 38 drill bit and tapped for 5-40 pan-head screws.
Installing the new plate after the machine has been painted and reassembled provides a clean, professional finishing touch to your vintage Delta 14″ bandsaw restoration.
