TWO-PIECE CNC-MACHINED BILLET ALUMINUM SWITCH BOX

For Vintage Delta Unisaw and Art Deco Cast-Iron Machine Bases

No more searching for a damaged or missing original die-cast switch box for your vintage Delta restoration.

This all-new, two-piece switch box is modeled after the original Delta design, but CNC machined from solid 6061 billet aluminum for substantially greater strength and durability.

Machine Compatibility

Designed for vintage Delta machines originally equipped with this two-piece switch-box arrangement, including:

• Delta Unisaw
• Delta jointers with Art Deco cast-iron bases
• Delta bandsaws with Art Deco cast-iron bases
• Delta belt sanders with Art Deco cast-iron bases

The box mounts to the machine using the existing factory-threaded mounting holes.

Heavy-Duty Billet-Aluminum Construction

Both the outer switch box and inner protective box are CNC machined from solid 6061 billet aluminum.

The inner box encloses and protects the live electrical connections attached to the switch. Both sections feature substantially thicker and stronger walls than the original zinc die-cast components.

Original Delta boxes could crack or break if struck or subjected to a hard pull on the power cord. Our billet-aluminum replacement provides a much stronger and more durable solution for a working machine.

Switch and Switch-Plate Compatibility

The switch box accepts:

• An original Delta switch
• Our replacement toggle switch
• An original Delta switch plate
• Any of our four silkscreened stainless steel replacement switch-plate designs

The switch and switch plate shown in the photos are for demonstration purposes only and are not included with the two-piece switch box.

Power-Cord Compatibility

The box provides separate cord-entry locations for:

• Incoming power cord on the outer box
• Motor connection cord on the inner box

Both cord entries are designed for 12/3 Type SJOOW power cord, which has a compact outside diameter of approximately .433".

A conductor size larger than 12 gauge is generally unnecessary for many compatible applications and may be too large for the cord-entry system. If your existing cords are oversized or use a bulkier jacket, replacement with compact Type SJOOW cord may be necessary. Always confirm the correct conductor size and electrical requirements for your machine and motor.

Included Hardware

Each two-piece switch box includes:

• CNC-machined 6061 aluminum outer switch box
• CNC-machined 6061 aluminum inner protective box
• CNC-machined aluminum outer cord-grip clamp
• CNC-machined aluminum inner cord-grip clamp
• New 18-8 stainless steel cord-grip screws
• New 18-8 stainless steel screws for joining the two box halves
• New 18-8 stainless steel screws for mounting the assembly to the machine
• Green 8-32 hex-head machine screw for attaching the equipment-grounding conductor to the inner box

Finish Options

The machined billet aluminum has an attractive natural finish and can be installed as supplied. It can also be prepared and painted to match the machine cabinet or cast-iron base, like the original Delta switch boxes.
