DELTA UNISAW SERVICE KIT

   Interior service kit for a Vintage Delta Unisaw 

What goes where:   

·        The small diameter, thinner white plastic washer goes between the worm gear and the trunnion boss on the tilt shaft.  The small diameter, thicker white plastic washer goes on the other side of this same trunnion boss on the tilt shaft.  The clamp collar replaces the OEM pinned collar and installs next to the thick plastic washer on the tilt shaft.

·        The washers are made of a friction reducing slippery plastic, but it is still a good idea to apply a little grease wherever the washers and saw parts are in contact and will rub on each other.

·        Check to ensure the head of the clamp collar’s bolt clears the trunnion casting when rotated.  A small amount of die grinding of the casting may be required.  A low head bolt is also provided if you have issues with clearance at the shaft collar.

·        The two similar thin plastic washers go at the rear of the elevation shaft, one on each side of the rear trunnion boss.

·        Use the stainless-steel spring roll pins that are provided if your saw came with roll pins.

·        Use the tapered pins that are provided if your saw came with tapered pins.  Tapered pins only fit through the worm gear, spacers, and shafts in one direction.  The gears and spacers must be reinstalled in the same location and on the same shafts they were originally on when the tapered holes were drilled and reamed.  You will likely need to grind or sand any excess protrusion from either end of the tapered pins when they are fully seated into the worm gears.  Any excess pin showing on either side of the mounted gear may interfere with the mating gear’s teeth.

·        Two of the thin plastic washers can also be used between the hand wheels and the saw at both the tilt and elevation shafts.
