WATER / QUENCH CUP AND SUPPORT ROD FOR A VINTAGE DELTA TRIPLE DUTY GRINDER
This is a newly fabricated water cup and support rod assembly for a vintage Delta Triple Duty 7" Grinder. Also commonly called a quench cup, it can be installed on either the left or right side of the grinder.
The bent support rod fits into the cast mounting boss located on the underside of both the left- and right-hand wheel guard castings.
The round-bottom steel cup measures approximately 3-1/2" in diameter by 4-1/4" tall. It is fabricated from heavy .22" wall carbon steel, making it exceptionally stout and substantial—similar in weight and feel to the original cast-iron quench cups.
The top edge of the cup is faced square and then radiused on a lathe, producing a smooth, rounded, and attractive exposed edge.
A steel pivot boss is TIG welded to the bottom of the cup. The boss is intentionally positioned off-center, creating an eccentric mounting point that allows the cup to be rotated and positioned as needed.
The support rod is manufactured from 7/16" diameter C1018 steel and finished with black oxide for an attractive appearance and added corrosion protection.
Each cup is individually TIG welded, sanded smooth, and sandblasted before receiving a durable gloss-gray powder-coated finish for long-lasting corrosion protection.
