DELTA UNISAW LOCKING WEDGE KIT
Full Description
DELTA UNISAW TILT AND ELEVATION SHAFT WEDGE-LOCK KIT
This listing is for one newly manufactured wedge-lock kit for the tilt or elevation shaft on a compatible early Delta Unisaw.
The wedge-lock system was used on early Unisaw's from the late 1930s until approximately 1948, when Delta changed to a brass-bullet locking system. These original components are frequently missing from machines being restored.
When the center knob in the handwheel is tightened, the pin forces the two wedges outward to lock the shaft in position. Without these components, the tilt or elevation mechanism cannot be securely locked.
INCLUDED:
- Two 4130 alloy-steel wedges
- One precision-machined slotted pin
- One new compression spring
The wedges are laser cut from 4130 alloy-steel plate. The mating slots are precision machined into the pin, and each set is fitted and tested to verify that the wedges move freely within the slots.
The new spring is slightly longer and applies somewhat less pressure than the original Delta spring, creating a more forgiving locking action. The pin is black oxide plated for increased corrosion protection.
INSTALLATION FEATURE:
Installing these components inside the blind hole of a Unisaw shaft can be challenging. To simplify installation, a screwdriver slot is machined into the rear of the pin. A screwdriver can be used to compress the spring and rotate the pin until the wedges align with the shaft openings.
IMPORTANT:
- One kit services one shaft.
- A Unisaw has separate tilt and elevation shafts.
- Two kits are required to restore both locking mechanisms.
The handwheel, center locking knob, short knob shaft, tilt and elevation shafts, and all other components are not included.
Please verify that your Unisaw uses the early wedge-lock system before ordering. This kit is not intended for later shafts equipped with brass-bullet locks.
This listing is for one (1) set of wedges, one (1) slotted pin, and one (1) spring. To do a complete saw restoration, you must buy two sets.

Reviews From the Shop Floor
I'm restoring an old Delta drill press and the original work light was missing the actual socket, switch, and cord. What I purchased is a great direct replacement and it seems quite high quality. I would recommend this seller to procure parts to restore your old machines. Worth the money. Good job!
