DELTA 12" DISC SANDER ANGLE GAGE / WORKTABLE TILT SCALE

This is a new replacement angle gage plate for the worktable on a vintage Delta 12" disc sander.

The original angle gage—also called the worktable tilt scale—was made from thin aluminum. After decades of use, these plates are often dented, scratched, painted over, damaged during removal, or missing entirely.

Our newly manufactured replacement is more durable than the original and has been carefully recreated using the dimensions and artwork from an original Delta plate.

Each plate is individually bagged and shipped in a protective envelope with tracking.

Removing the Original Plate

Removing the original plate can be difficult because Delta installed it with drive rivets. The thin aluminum plate was frequently damaged while attempting to remove these rivets.

We use a small chisel to loosen each rivet. Carefully tap around the base of each rivet from all four sides until it becomes loose enough to remove.

Because a replacement plate is now available, there is less concern about damaging the original plate during removal.

Installing the New Plate

Install the replacement plate after the machine has been painted and the restoration work is complete.

The new plate can be installed using either:

• OEM-style drive rivets, or
• Stainless-steel pan-head screws, as used in our restoration work

For screw installation, drill the original rivet holes with a No. 38 drill bit, then tap the holes for 5-40 pan-head screws.

We prefer stainless-steel screws because they provide a secure installation while allowing the plate to be removed again in the future. Original-style drive rivets are designed for permanent, one-time installation.
