DELTA 6" X 48" BELT SANDER ANGLE GAUGE

Delta 6" X 48" Belt Sander Angle Plate

This is an "all new" angle gage plate to fit the vintage Delta 6" x 48" belt sander. Delta's part number for this item is BS-250. 

The original angle gage or tilt indicator plate that is used to set the worktable position was made from thin aluminum and was often dented, dinged, scratched, damaged, painted over, or lost. 

Our tilt indicator plates are newly manufactured and better than the originals. 

These nominal 5/8" x 4" plates are made of stainless steel and have been carefully and painstakingly recreated from the dimensions of the original plates and from the original artwork. 

The indicator blanks were laser cut from .030" thick 304 stainless steel before being carefully deburred and brush finished, prior to application of a high quality bright red vinyl decal. 

The holes in the angle gage plates are an exact to match the original plates and use the original holes to mount. 

Additional pieces of this same angle gauge that are bought on the same order ship with no additional charge. 

When restoring or refurbishing a 6 x 48 belt sander, getting the old angle gauge plate off is always difficult because of the drive rivets Delta used to install it. Removing the rivets, more often than not, damaged the gauge plate to some extent. 

That problem has now gone away, now that a replacement gauge is available. We use a small chisel to loosen each rivet by tapping at the base of each on all four sides, with less concern about plate damage. Once loose, the rivets can be removed. 

Installation of a new plate after the machine is painted and complete can be done with OEM type rivets or with screws like we use in our restoration work. The original rivets holes can be drilled out with a #38 drill bit and tapped for 5-40 pan head screws. We find that screwing the new plate back in place with stainless steel makes more sense than using the once installed non-removal rivets.
