Once loose, the rivets can be removed.

Installation of a new plate after the machine is painted and complete can be done with OEM type rivets or with screws like we use in our restoration work. The original rivets holes can be drilled out with a #38 drill bit and tapped for 5-40 pan head screws. We find that screwing the new plate back in place with stainless steel makes more sense than using the once installed non-removal rivets.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0708/2269/0966/files/69136fa1947629a3287d0b11_s-l1600_c786def4-c8cf-43a9-a65c-42f48daecbf1.jpg?v=1764087535
https://vintagedeltasupply.com/products/delta-6-x-48-belt-sander-angle-plate
Vintage Delta Supply Co.
